A Feast in Honor of Saint George

2026-05-04T09:13:32-04:00

Dear Saint George Community, In honor of our patron saint, our Upper School students planned, prepared and served a beautiful luncheon for our entire school community. Fr. Yanni led us in prayer, as we asked our patron saint to continue interceding for our beautiful school. We then sat down together for a wonderful meal and celebrated the incredible community that has formed here at Saint George Classical Academy. Last week we invited you to take part in our Saint George spring giving campaign. If you are inspired by the work we are doing, we invite you to contribute to our spring matching [...]

Dr. Kerry Pound Joins Saint George Faculty

2026-04-30T09:37:43-04:00

After studying math and bioethics at Georgetown University and then philosophy and theology as a Rhodes Scholar, Dr. Pound earned her medical degree from McGill University and began a career in pediatric medicine.  She worked for almost twenty years as a pediatric hospitalist, mostly caring for sick and injured young patients in the emergency department. In 2018, Dr. Pound started to homeschool and thus began a new journey of teaching, learning, and embracing classical literature and history.  Since then, she has homeschooled three of her four children for various seasons -- while continuing to work in the ER.  Recently retired from [...]

Missed Astronomy Night? Listen Here!

2025-12-03T09:52:11-05:00

Last Monday, Dr. James Joyce shared his insights on astronomy as a liberal art, leaving the audience with the challenge to "look beyond the stars" as they headed off to the field in order to view the night sky. We are grateful to the North Shore Local Astronomy Club for sharing their enthusiasm, expertise, and equipment with all of us as we were able to see Saturn, the Moon, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades, and more. Listen to Dr. Joyce's talk in order to learn more about classical education, or for just a bit of inspiration. The North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club [...]

Violin Announcement

2025-11-14T08:04:55-05:00

The violins have arrived and students are learning all there is to know about caring for, handling and playing this beautiful instrument. What a blessing it is that we are able to offer three 30-minute violin lessons within the school week. Music is foundational to classical education, initiating them into musical arts through active participation and developing their ability to appreciate a world of culture which must be preserved. Playing an instrument develops in our students discipline, form, and attention, and develops an innate sense for resolving discord into harmony. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, [...]
